The right length

The sleeve should leave a little of the shirt cuff visible and not cover the hand. The exact length depends on your personal proportions and on how the jacket is worn.

Shortening from the cuff

When the buttons and buttonholes allow it, the sleeve is shortened from the cuff. The distance between the edge and the last button must stay well balanced.

Working from the shoulder

If the buttonholes are working ones or there is no room at the cuff, the sleeve may need shortening from the sleeve head. It is a more involved job because the sleeve has to be removed and set back in, respecting its shape and pitch.

Checking both arms

Arms are not always identical. At the fitting we measure each side and check the natural position of the hands for a balanced result.
