The skirt's line guides the work
Pencil, circle, pleated and wrap skirts all need different approaches. Before altering the garment we look at how the fabric falls and where the volume needs to stay.
Taking in waist and hips
The reduction can be spread across the seams or the darts. The zip, pockets and lining influence where the alteration is made.
Shortening with care
The new length must respect proportions and movement. On skirts with a slit, pleats or a pattern, the balance of the details must be preserved.
The fitting completes the result
The skirt is checked standing and in movement. A stable waist, clean hips and an even hem show a well-judged alteration.
