Why the original hem matters
Many jeans have fading, stitching and small signs of wear at the hem that are part of their look. Shortening them with a new hem can change this detail. Keeping the original hem instead preserves the character of the style more faithfully.
When it's the best choice
It is especially suited to washed, faded or treated denim. On plain, very clean jeans a traditional hem may be enough, as long as the thread, height and finish match the garment.
The length is decided at the fitting
The right length depends on the leg width and the shoes. Before cutting we look at how the denim falls at the front and back, avoiding too much bunching or a hem that ends up unintentionally short.
A result true to the garment
After the work, the stitching must stay even and the hem must look natural. The initial assessment lets us choose between keeping the original hem and a traditional rebuild.
