Look at the trousers while worn

The right alteration becomes clear when you look at the garment as a whole. Trousers may seem too long, but the cause may also be a waist that is too loose and lets them slip down. That is why the assessment should be made with the trousers on and with the shoes you wear most often.

When to work on the length

If the hem bunches up on the shoe or drags at the back, the trousers probably need shortening. The right length depends on the style: a classic cut can rest lightly on the shoe, while a contemporary cut stays cleaner and shorter.

When to take in the waist

If the trousers slip down, leave gaps at the back or always need a belt, it is worth taking in the waist. The alteration must respect the hips, the rise and the position of the pockets.

A fitting avoids the wrong alteration

During the fitting we check waist, length and leg width together. This way the alteration improves the overall fit of the garment.
