Signs not to ignore

Tears under the arms, openings near the pockets and wear at the hem show that the lining is giving way. Repairing a small tear straight away can stop it from spreading.

Repair or replacement

If the fabric is still strong, a local repair is possible. When the lining is fragile in several places, a full replacement gives a more stable and tidy result.

Choosing the new material

Weight, smoothness, colour and breathability must suit the garment. The new lining must not weigh the jacket down or restrict movement.

Rebuilding the details

Inside pockets, vents and labels are carefully put back in place. The aim is to respect the original construction and extend the life of the garment.
