It's not just about removing width
Wide trousers can be tapered, but the alteration must respect the hips, knee, calf and hem. Reducing the width evenly doesn't always give the best result.
Where the work is done
Depending on the style, we work on the inside seam, the outside seam or both. The choice depends on the position of the crease, the pockets and how much fabric needs to be removed.
Fit and movement
A slimmer leg must still let you sit and walk comfortably. During the fitting we check that the fabric doesn't pull at the knee or create diagonal creases.
The hem completes the alteration
After narrowing the leg, the length and width of the hem may also need updating. This is the step that restores proportion to the whole pair of trousers.
