Key Alterations

Shirts

Taking In the Waist and Hips

We reduce excess fabric at the hips and back, working the rear darts when appropriate, for a slimmer, more proportioned line.

Shortening or Taking In the Sleeves

We adjust length by working the cuff and repositioning buttons and details, or reduce the width when it's too loose on the arm.

Shoulder Alterations

In some cases an overly wide shoulder can be corrected: it's a more complex alteration and must be assessed on the garment.

Cuff Alterations

We can take in, let out, reposition buttons or work on the cuff construction when technically possible.

Collar Alterations

We assess corrections to the collar's circumference or shape based on the shirt's construction.

Moving or Replacing Buttons

A simple repositioning can improve closure and comfort. We can also replace missing or damaged buttons.

Shortening the Length

We reduce the shirt's hem while keeping a shape consistent with wearing it tucked in or out.

Full Refitting & Repairs

We combine several alterations to transform a too-loose shirt, and we work on open seams, small tears and other worn areas.

Good to Know

Men's Shirts

On a men's shirt we mainly check shoulders, chest, waist, sleeve length, cuffs and overall length. A shirt that's too loose can often be rebalanced by working the hips or back without making it overly fitted.

Women's Shirts

On women's shirts we can define the waistline more, correct volume at the hips and back, adjust the sleeves and change the length, respecting the original style: straight, shaped or intentionally oversized.

Formal Shirts & Delicate Fabrics

On linen, silk or particularly delicate fabrics we assess the most suitable technique beforehand: seams, finishes, transparency and material characteristics can affect feasibility and the type of alteration.
