Key Alterations

Jackets & Blazers

Taking In or Letting Out the Waist

We reduce excess volume by working the side and/or back seams. When there's enough fabric allowance inside, we can also let out the waist, depending on the jacket's construction.

Shortening, Lengthening or Taking In the Sleeves

We adjust sleeve length considering the cuff, buttons, buttonholes and proportion with the shirt, or reduce the width for a cleaner line.

Shortening the Jacket Body

On some models we can reduce the length, taking into account pocket position, buttons and the proportions of the lapel.

Shoulder Alterations

Shoulder alterations are among the most complex: they must be assessed individually since they can involve padding, armhole and inner structure.

Lapel & Collar

We assess corrections to the collar and the lapel line when the garment's construction makes the alteration technically appropriate.

Closure & Buttons

We can reposition or replace buttons and correct, where possible, small imbalances in the closure.

Vents & Lining

We restore or modify centre and side vents, and repair or partially/fully replace the lining when worn or damaged.

Full Refitting

When several alterations are needed, we plan an overall change to waist, hips, sleeves and length to update the fit.

Good to Know

Men's Jackets

On a men's jacket, fit depends on the balance between shoulders, chest, waist, body length and sleeves. Before working on it we assess the garment closed and open, from the front, side and back: the goal isn't simply to take it in, but to keep a natural line.

Women's Blazers & Jackets

On women's blazers we can define the waistline more, correct the sleeves and length, and rebalance the line at the hips, considering the original style: straight, fitted, single-breasted, double-breasted, cropped or oversized.

Double-Breasted Jackets

Double-breasted jackets need particular care, since button placement, front overlap and waist point determine the garment's visual balance: before changing the width we assess the whole construction.
